3) Describe the triple constraint. What are the three components and what is the relationship between them.

The triple constraint is the scope, time and cost. The scope is overall what will be done in the project. The time is how long will it take to complete the project. The cost is how much will cost to complete the project. These three constraints will have a careful balancing act. Managing this will involve making trade-offs between scope, time, and cost goals for a project. Any change in one will have an effect on another. If you lose money for the project that will most likely have an effect on both scope and time since you won't have the same budget for the project.

  1. A good project manager should always be aware of these constraints. If your project is too ambitious, you will quickly learn the importance of the triple constraints and either be forced to scale back or, worst case, fail and have your project cancelled.
